Mechanical vs Spray-Dried Gum Arabic

Both are powder forms of gum arabic, but the process behind each determines where it fits in your formulation.
Mechanical Grade
Mechanical gum arabic is dry-milled from raw material into a fine powder. It is well suited to dry blending and applications where controlled dispersion in liquid is not the primary requirement.
Spray-Dried Grade
Spray-dried gum arabic is processed to produce a powder with more controlled dispersion behaviour in solution, making it the more common choice for beverage and coating systems that need predictable dosing.
If your process includes a dissolving or dispersion step, start your trials with the spray-dried grade.
Quick Decision Guide
- Dry blending, no dissolving step → Mechanical
- Beverage, coating or emulsion system → Spray-Dried
- Unsure → request both as trial samples against the same acceptance spec

Numerical specifications, certificates and claims referenced above are illustrative. Confirmed limits are published only from the approved TDS, current COA and certificate scope for the specific grade you request.
